singing on the roof recorded august 2016
inconclusive titanic song recorded 2015

released August 4, 2016

"...if you observe a pipistrelle bat roosting it looks rather small and you are able to see the colour of its fur and to notice its shape. Seeing the same animal flying, with its wings spread, it seems a much larger creature, and it is much harder to be clear about one's observations: is it brown? Is it black? Is it there at all, as it flitters in and out of vision?

This recording by The Door and the Window is similarly elusive. The short "Inconclusive Titanic Song" is like a neat little pop ditty. The much longer "Singing on the Roof" is like a pop tune with its wings spread wide, flittering through the night. All of the components of a tightly worked song are there - but the rhythms and melodies seem to have floated loose from each other and indeed from any mooring at all..."
